Working for Brigham and womens OB/GYN clinic is the best co-op you could ask for!Although it can be difficult at times, it is only because you are working at the same level as other medical asst's who have gone to school for 2-3 years to work the same position! They will teach you everything and be there for you of course to help you out, but expect you to learn! The doctors are also amazing, you are hands on with them all day! You bring patients in you do short history, and all vital signs. You prep out patient surg and assist doctors in out patient procedure. You will also have to set up and clean up everything am /pm but you learn ALOT!!! You will also do some office work at times if you dont have alot of patients that day, or help the nurses with ambulatory phone service (messages). You may feel the pay is lower then your friends with other majors (business), but you even if you get paid nothing I would still say this co-op is worth your time. I would say if you get offered this position or one just like it at the brigham TAKE IT! You will never forget this experience, and if your going into medical school it will help you in the future! |
