Comments:
Fantastic place to work, I would say they can't be far behind Google/Microsoft in terms of how enjoyable it is to work there. Good pay, got my own office with a door and a large window! Fringe benefits are perhaps the best part - there is a buffet breakfast every Wednesday with pancakes, waffles, bagels, muffins, fruit, etc... It's a serious breakfast. Every Friday a lady leaves a giant plate of cookies/brownies/etc out in the common area on each floor and work grinds to a halt as people just hang out and eat cookies. There are free soda and juice machines, and a coffee maker on every floor which is also very nice. They also have their own small gym but I believe it costs some small fee to use. The employees are all brilliant and very friendly. As you might expect from a place called "The Mathworks", there are a lot of very very smart people there. The atmosphere is very relaxed. They'd like you to be there during normal work hours because there is a lot of interaction and team work. As long as you get your work done and are available if someone needs you, you can pretty much do whatever you want. The work was interesting but nothing too difficult. I expect someone with more experience may have been bored, but I'm sure they could have been given more difficult things to do if that was the case. The only downside to working at TMW is the commute - if you're coming from Northeastern's campus you'll need to take the orange line or a bus to Back Bay, catch the commuter rail out to Natick, and then a shuttle takes you from the train to work. The line that Natick station is on (Framingham/Worcester) is probably the worst commuter line in the MBTA because they share the tracks with CSX. Trains often simply never came, and we'd have to wait for the next one. I would recommend trying to avoid using MBTA if you can. However, even with all its flaws the T is probably still better than trying to drive through Boston at rush hour. I've never tried to drive the commute myself though, so I can't say for sure. Overall I found this to be a great place to work and would recommend it to anybody.
